The percentage of overweight children in America today is higher than ever before. Some factors that contribute can be traced to genetics, but more often than not, overweight kids eat poor diets and do not get enough exercise. As a responsible parent, it is your job to do what you can to ensure that your child develops healthy eating habits so they can live a long and healthy life. How can we tell if our child is overweight or just has ‘baby fat’? There is no real answer to this question because they are one in the same. Once you have discovered that your child has a weight problem, you want to do everything you can to address the problem today, so you can help them avoid problems as an adult. Make exercise fun for your child. Spend time at the park or the pool, if your area has one. Most importantly, remember that children will imitate what they see their parents doing. * Serve realistic portions.

Keep in mind that obesity is much easier to prevent than it is to cure – not mention much healthier for your kids. Do what you can now to ensure your child lives a healthy life. Minimize junk food, encourage activity, and help them learn how to eat well.
