Embarking on a food plan or raw food can be quite a struggle for a lot of us mainly because of the tension and stressful conditions that we have to go through on a daily basis. Not to mention we are always surrounded with a wealth of unhealthy foods. We are easily drawn to take the path of least resistance, by giving up raw food diet in favor of processed and junk food items.
A major obstacle we have to overcome when eating healthy is the cravings for junk food. This is due to the gradual removal of toxins from our body as a direct result of the cleansing action of fresh and living food. Aside from the heightened cravings for unhealthy food, one may also experience stomach pains, headache and uncomfortable shift to fresh and living food. The most unfortunate thing to ever happen is when someone who has been eating healthy backslides into the realm of junk.
Here are some practical tips that you can follow so that you don’t become prone to backsliding.
1. Stay away from temptations
Whenever possible, stay away from temptations and minimize those situations that may lead you to your temptations. For instance, if you are going out to buy produce and you suddenly feel the cravings, then you may avoid passing through the candy store even if it means taking the longer route.
2. Always dwell on the consequences of your actions
If a craving creeps up on you and wont go away, just think of how terrible you will feel if you give in. Think about all the negative effects these will have on your health and its impact on your peace of mind.
3. If your having a craving, eat something healthy and fresh instead
If junk food cravings just wont leave you alone, busy your mouth with raw crunchy foods. However, if you do this to avoid junk food, make sure not to pig out on the healthy food.
4. Adjust your diet to fit you and reduce your cravings.
If you are facing long-term cravings, then you may consider altering your eating program from restricted eating program to a more diverse one.
5. Observe sensible eating
Eat in moderation, and at fixed and regular intervals. Keep in mind that just because your eating fresh and healthy foods, doesn’t mean you can pig out on them.
6. Always have your diet in the back of your mind so that you don’t let social or work functions sabotage you.
7. Link up with other people who share the same passion as you are for uncooked and fresh food. You can join and start a new organization or join the existing support group.
8. Exercise as regularly as possible. Exercising on a normal basis helps eliminate stress. Some exercise also have great healing and calming aspects to them as well. These kinds of activities are yoga, tai-chi, or kung-fu.
